English
This term our English unit is based around the book 'Night of the Gargoyles' by Eve Bunting. The book has wonderful illustrations by David Wiesner. There are many videos of this book being read aloud on youtube if you wish to see it.
We will be writing our own stories to add to a class book called 'Things That Go Bump in the Night'
Maths
In maths we will be covering place value, addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. These are all key skills that the children have learnt throughout school and they are essential knowledge that underpins all aspects of maths.
It is important for all children to know their times tables up to 12 x 12 and their corresponding division facts to help them throughout year 6.
All year we will be recapping arithmetic skills alongside the wider curriculum to ensure children are confident and prepared to take their SATS tests as well as move on to secondary school.
History
Our topic this term is 'How did the achievements of the ancient Maya impact their society and beyond?'
In this unit we will be investigating the ancient Maya by examining historical and archaeological evidence to learn about their achievements and way of life.

Our topic this term is 'Living Things: Classifying Big and Small'.
In this unit we will be classifying living things by exploring how vertebrates, invertebrates, plants and micro-organisms are grouped according to shared characteristics.

In art this term we have started exploring elements of art including lines and colour and produced art work which you can see in our classroom and in the corridor!
