To attend both Resource Bases, children must first have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). This must state that the child's primary Special Educational Need or Disability (SEND) is Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH). Placements are then allocated through a consultation process with the SEND Team at the Local Authority, who need to agree that this placement is suitable for the pupil. This consultation process is usually triggered through an Annual Review of the EHCP at the pupil's current setting.
