During Year 2 and Year 6, children are required to sit Standard Assessment Tests (SATs). These tests help to show whether or not children are meeting the national expectations for their age group. In Year 2, the results of the tests help teachers to plan what further support your child might need for the rest of their time in primary school. In Year 6, the results are shared with your child's secondary school and give an indication of whether or not they are working at the standard expected for children beginning Year 7.
Below are 2 videos that explain the content of the tests and what the children can expect. We will also have meetings in school to discuss how you can support your child in preparation for taking the assessments.
