Term 5

We have lots of exciting things in store for Year 5 during term 5.
English
This term, we’re going to have lots of fun with writing! We’ll be focusing on two cool styles: writing to explain and writing to persuade. To get us started, we’ll be reading and exploring the exciting story ‘The Lost Book of Adventure,’ edited by Teddy Keen, which will help inspire our writing.
Later on, children will get the chance to create their own advertising campaigns, using real examples to help them come up with convincing and fun messages.
Year 5 have been doing an amazing job with their writing already, and I can’t wait to see how much they’ll improve this term. It’s going to be a fantastic, creative, and really exciting few weeks!
Other Subjects
In Maths, we’ll be diving into shapes and continuing our adventures with decimals — lots of fun puzzles and challenges ahead!

In History, we’re exploring the big question: “What is the legacy of the ancient Greek civilisation?” To help us really understand, we’ve got an exciting workshop planned for 21st May that will bring our learning to life!

In Science, we’re revisiting forces and space, but this time we’re zooming in on unbalanced forces — get ready for some fascinating experiments and discoveries!

For P.E., we’ll be focusing on athletics to get everyone ready for Sports Day on 19th May. P.E. days will be shared soon, so watch this space!

And in Music, Year 5 will have a fantastic opportunity to learn how to play the ukulele — they’ll be strumming away throughout the term, making music and having lots of fun!
